The Lake Park (or so we call it)

We are lucky enough to get a house on post right next to the lake and several parks. Okay all houses on post are next to a park right? But not a lake, okay. There is a cute little marina and cafe by the boat dock called Russell's Landing. The kids love playing in the water and the sand so we end up here several times a week. Unfortunately, it is getting a little cold to go in the water so we will have to look forward to next year.

Dash Point

Loooooooooved this place! Okay I have pretty much loved every place we have been to visit so far, but who is keeping track. Dash point has a beautiful shoreline, a pier and fun playground for the kids to play on. There were lots of local fishermen out, seeing big fish that I could not see. I was told that if I wanted to see the fish I was going to have to get me some polarized glasses, I might just do that. Did I mention all of these places are part of the Puget Sound, unless otherwise stated.

Gig Harbor

Also known as Washington's Maritime city, Gig Harbor was a place that I have wanted to visit for a long time. It is a really popular tourist destination. Of all of the destinations we have visited thus far I think this is probably the least kid friendly. It was beautiful but not a ton for kids to do. We did find a fabulous Mexican restaurant with the best salsa and that definitely made it worth the trip.

Point Defiance

One of our 1st destinations in beautiful Washington was Point Defiance. This is one of the largest urban parks in the United States (702 acres). This park has a zoo and an aquarium, and tons of beach and beautiful forests.

Taylin turns 5

On our way to Washington the end of August (I know, I am a tad behind) Taylin turned 5. My wonderful parents let us throw her a big bash at their house. It was really great to see our good friends and family.

We're here...........or there

We're here.........or there, however you look at it. We made it to Washington, unfortunately we will be living in a hotel for the rest of the month, but things are good. We are loving the cooler weather and the beautiful Puget Sound, the kids can't get enough of the ocean.

Surprise!

You know it is going to be a great day when the doorbell rings at 9:30 am on a Saturday and the mail carrier has brought you a package that you weren't expecting! Especially when all that is on your agenda for the whole day is packing, boxing, and cleaning and then some more packing, boxing and cleaning.

Super delicious taffy! A bag of all orange cream my very favorite, and an assorted bag and a special Let Freedom Ring bag (which I told Dave I think is especially for him, wink - wink). Thank you so much to a special, fabulous, most wonderful, caring, and very dear friend, you made my day! PS - We will be on our way to Washington on Tuesday, yeah.

Kinley's new Do

I love Kinleys hair when it looks like this:

But lately it has been looking a little bit more like this:
So I gave her a new haircut like this:

I am afraid that most of the curls are gone.............probably for good. Anyway, she now has a cute new haircut and I think I did a pretty good job.
